Connor’s book Rugged Discipleship is a fun and motivating fusion of Biblical principles, adventure literature, and travelogue, while always encouraging the reader to be and make rugged disciples. The writer introduces us to the North Georgia mountains, a wee village in Scotland, and remote areas of Cambodia - from skydivers, Chicago Bears, and a motorcycle stolen in Bulgaria... Furthermore, he has trained and discipled thousands of others how to make disciples, around the world. He is a remarkably gifted man, one of the most gifted I have ever met. He gives of his time, his energy, his resources, and in his books: his insight and wisdom gained over many years of faithful service, across a wide variety of situations and circumstances. I highly recommend Steve's expertise generally to anyone (pastors, youth workers, lay workers, etc.) wanting to serve Christ by "reproducing reproducers."

Knowing Steve for nearly 30 years, I have personally seen him live out this concept—Rugged Discipleship. His middle name is discipleship! I traveled with him around the world, and witnessed his investment in leaders to become discipleship-makers. This book is a readymade guide for anyone who wants to understand the Biblical view of discipleship. My favorite one word for this book is MUST! You MUST read it today, and discover how to be a rugged follower of Jesus Christ who can have Kingdom impact!

Love this book! As a young athlete in a completely new world,

I made the transition from Texas to Indiana. Being lost on campus and on the football field, a place at Mama C’s dinner table, enjoying amazing meals, was when I often felt at home. After my belly was full, I was able to gain a spiritual fill by conversing with Mr. Steve. As my spiritual coach in college, and now an influence on my life, I know one thing. Mr. Steve radiates love: love for God, and love for seeing God shine through men.

This book made me both laugh and cry. Rugged Discipleship is a fun and thoughtful look at making disciples in the 21st century. It shows us how we can return to Jesus' rugged model and principles of discipleship. Steve dives into his personal journey of being discipled by influential and godly men and their profound relationships. As one of the best in leadership development and disciple-making in the world of sport, Steve shares how you can reach a new depth of discipleship and be a rugged influencer, just as Jesus was/is, in today's world.

In his new book Rugged Discipleship, Steve Connor captures the essence of the church’s most important call - to disciple and embrace Matthew 28. I’ve watched firsthand Steve grow the next generation of leaders. In his new book, Steve weaves his personal stories with rock solid biblical principles. A must-read for those passionate about impacting lives for eternity.

I have been blessed to have been discipled by Steve Connor during my time as a college athlete and beyond. For those not as fortunate as I, this book is the next best thing. This book is packed with stories and a wealth of practical wisdom.

I love this book! A classic today! I have known Steve Connor for well over three decades and regard him as a leader of leaders, a discipler par excellence, an inspirational preacher, thoughtful writer, mentor to many around the globe and a dear friend.  I relish Steve’s passion for ministry.  He truly brings out the best in others and has been instrumental in growing leaders in the most unlikely places.  I treasure his friendship and celebrate our partnership in the gospel.  His newest book grabs one’s attention from the first line of the introduction (the part many readers skip.)  His words of wisdom will undoubtedly impact those who take the time to read and absorb.  The theme of rugged discipleship is truly fitting – Steve lives ruggedly for the Lord.  What’s more, he has spent his adult life doing exactly what he presents in his latest book.  This is good stuff for those who are serious about serving Jesus Christ.  Don’t miss this challenging opportunity to learn how to be a better disciple maker.

Steve’s new book reminds me of our time together! Steve has

been such an example of God’s love throughout the years. He has blessed my life, and will undoubtedly bless many others through his dedication of sharing God’s Word in sports ministry and beyond. I will always carry fond memories of Steve and his wife, Michelle, opening up their home to myself and fellow IU players. It always felt like “home” while enjoying some added perks of zip lining, four-wheelers, and Michelle’s home cooking! From being my Indiana University football chaplain, to preparing my (now) wife and me for marriage, I am so grateful to know him.

What a great read: it brings me back to my time with the Connors. I am very thankful to have had Steve and his wife Michelle teach us and open their doors for us during our formative college years. They always made us feel at home, and really encouraged us to live for Jesus. Read it and get rugged.
